Contribute Directly to Oceana |
Our oceans are in trouble. Industrial fishing vessels take too many fish out of the ocean, and destroy vital habitat in the process.
The marine life that remains is polluted with mercury and other dangerous toxins.
Your generous support can help us turn the tides on ocean destruction. |

Our Ocean Sustainability Initiatives |
Sustainable Seafood According to the Blue Ocean Institute and Oceana, several fish and seafood species have been identified as unsustainable due to unsustainable fishing methods and practices. All Tides resorts strive to adhere to these important guidelines and provide sustainable seafood selections where and when available to all our guests at our food and beverage outlets. Sea Turtle Nesting Program Playa La Ropa beach at The Tides Zihuatanejo on Mexico's Pacific Coast is a natural breeding and nesting site for the Leatherback Turtle. The largest of the seven species of marine turtle, the leatherback is the only marine turtle that is not a hard-shell and derives its name from the appearance of its shell. The leatherback is classified by the World Conservation Union (the world's largest and most important conservation network) as critically-endangered, and The Tides in Zihuatanejo continues to allocate resources to care for the species' eggs and hatching processes. The resort's nursery and incubation facilities protect the turtles' eggs from potentially harmful poachers. The Tides Zihuatanejo and Oceana will work together to ensure the successful continuation of this program. |
